Freelance copywriter,
pie lover, mental health
banger-onner
Standoutable, lovable, you-based copy for consumers and those in the worlds of food and mental health
Hiya, I’m
Kate
I’m a freelance copywriter who specialises in writing B2C, food and mental health content.
As a copywriter, I write words that make you actually, properly stand out to your customers.
As a human who loves scoffing pies and talking about mental health, I write in a mindful, kind way with a side order of good ol' fashioned humour (mind you don’t spit out those pie crumbs).
See, even though we all spend our lives shopping, working and socialising online, we are still humans looking for a smile.
So, with some SEO friendly and sometimes unexpected words, I mix the digital and retro worlds into one delightful experience. A bit like watching Gavin and Stacey on your iPhone.
Uh, and the letters mean what, now?
B2C stands for Business to Consumer. So, in other words, I write stuff for the general public.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation and matters if you want to be seen in Google results.
What is a copywriter?
And who are they copying?
Well, a decent freelance copywriter works directly with your brand to create a collection of highly bespoke words. Words to show the world that your food or mental health service is just bloomin’ lovely — and humanely persuade them to spend their money on you. And that’s what I do, because I’m pretty decent.
P.S. ‘Copy’ just means ‘words’ — all my work is unique, just like you (naww).
My Services
Once you book with me, my services include a non-negotiable call with you for around an hour, to learn all about your brand. Otherwise, how will I know what to write?
-
We all experience confidence crises, uncertainty, analysis paralysis and just general brain ache when we’re running a business. There’s a lot of advice out there, but who’s there to listen? That’s where I, my core counselling skills qualification and decade of copywriting experience come in!
You need this when: you just need to talk it out and have someone ask the right questions so you can find your own answers. Also, when you need a shove in the right direction, armed with hints, tips and advice from an experienced copywriter, all in a handy reference doc!
Includes: a therapeutic one-hour call, active listening from me, a one-page summary with relevant copywriting nuggets, and the option of booking another session or a quote from me to help you with your next copy steps.
-
Your customers want to hear from you. Like, the real you. Send them some love letters with non-salesy, human, you-based copy on your website, blogs, emails and more.
You need this when: you have a great product and a fab audience, but you want to reach out and grab them (nicely).
Includes: research, brand voice development, SEO friendly copywriting, editing, and liaison.
-
Sometimes time and money are of the essence - and sometimes you really enjoy writing stuff yourself. I’ll take your insider expert, pre-written copy then proofread, edit and rejig it before grating some results-orientated parmesan on top.
You need this when: you want to write your own copy, but need some guidance from an experienced copywriter to make it ship-shape and ready for search results. You might also be tight on time and money.
Includes: proofreading, editing and reordering copy, SEO research, topic research, brand voice development
-
Nailing your brand voice will give you an arsenal of words to make you stand out from eeeveryone else. Show your true self, catch people’s attention, and even be bloody adored.
You need this when: you want to make an immediate splash on your website and other places. It’s also great if you have a lot of competitors who do the same thing as you do.
Includes: brand discovery time with you, sample options for you to choose from, brand voice guidelines written in your new style. Complete website rewrite optional — lemme know if you’d like this.
WHY FOOD AND
MENTAL HEALTH?
It’s simple; they’re just two of my favourite things to bang on about.
I’ve written about food since 2015 and love eating. I love all food, really — but the beauty of pies is there’s a filling for everyone.
And I write about mental health because it affects us all — and talking about it is a great way to make authentic connections.

“Meetings are like personal check-ins where Kate makes it a priority on the agenda to discuss how we are all doing, so we can talk about the important stuff going on in our lives and work.
Her Miss Marple approach to careful questioning enables Kate to unpick exactly what the focus needs to be, all while building a unique voice for your brand, which enables you to talk to your audience in the right way and achieve your aim.”
Becky Holst, Director at Kudize Club
Becky’s fave pie: steak pie (maybe even put between two slices of buttered white bread with ketchup!) [Note from Kate: GENIUS]
Becky’s fave self-care tip: DIGGING! Getting physical, connecting with the earth, and then relaxing in a hot bath afterwards. Bliss.
Kate did a fantastic, timely proofreading job on a profile feature I was preparing. She possesses that wonderful ability to take a big picture view with an unerring eye for detail.
The quality I appreciated in Kate is that she is genuinely committed to understanding the voice for each project, so that the brand shines through in the copy.
Harriet Clark, Freelance Content Writer in the CBD and Health and Wellness Industry
Harriet’s fave pie: A samusa or a Cornish pasty [Kate: I ADORE a pasty - read more!]
Harriet’s fave self-care tip: A sauna on the beach followed by an icy cold sea dip. It’s an absolute game-changer and a mood-booster like nothing else!
My conversation with Kate really helped me clarify the direction of my business and reconnect with the values that matter most to me in my work. I came away with more insight into what makes my therapeutic approach unique, and how to communicate that more clearly. Kate is insightful, grounded, and a brilliant listener. I’d wholeheartedly recommend her “Copy Clinic”.
